Dear all,
It has been nice experience with working all you. In this topic, I would like to mention a few tools that webmaster should not miss.
Browser
In web browser, I would highly recommend Firefox which can run on multi-platforms Win/Mac/Linux/BSD. As you might know that Apple released their Safari web browser on Mac to Window compatible version. So that you can now using Safari to test whether your javascript or css is working on it.
Netcraft Toolbar
Netcraft Toolbar is a *must* toolbar for me because it helps me a lot of day to day network look-back, phishing attacks, web server report, etc.. I used it with Firefox and IE7. I highly recommended this toolbar over Google, Yahoo and others.. Here is what netcraft can do:
- Network look-back to find out a sudden website which is coming from which network
- to find out original Internet Hosting Provider or Internet Service Provider of sudden website(s)
- Website popularity, site ranking by netcraft
- Site Report for web server details, site uptime, server operating system for sudden website
- Risk Rating and phishing attacks
For example, if you installed netcraft toolbar and visit to kholix.com, you will find out like the following screen shot.

SmartFTP for Window
So far, SmartFTP is the best experience ftp program that I’m using day to day. Other than that, Filezilla might be a good alternative.
WinSCP for Window
WinSCP is only a solution tool for Window user to log in their sftp account. But ftp has higher speed transfer over sftp pool.
Fetch for Mac
If you were Mac user, Fetch is a good tool for ftp and sftp. There is a educational/personal free use license for fetch.
Tortoise SVN
Tortoise SVN is a good client program for checkin-checkout of software source code repository. Sometime when you want to go with “ahead” version of sudden softwares, this tool will be a handy.
Putty - shell console for Window
Putty is the best window remote shell console program for using SSH. You can refer wiki for more tutorial about this tools.
DomainTools
Sign up domaintools.com and subscribe domain monitor service to monitor all your domains. You will be noticed for anything changes with your domians such as domain locking, registry, etc..
DNSReport/DNS Stuff
Use DNSReport or DNS Stuff service to monitor your domain dns setting.
Most of the tool that I mentioned it here are more or less free program/opensource softwares. I wish this topic will help you on your day to day web developing tasks.
