Howto configure microsoft outlook express to retrieve sending mails

• Outlook express comes free with Window XP.
• You can start the program in two ways.

Start > All Programs > Outlook Express

or

Start > Run > msimn.exe

• Open Microsoft Outlook Express
• Tools > Accounts

• Now goto Mail tab
• On top right corner, Add button and then Mail

• It will start wizard dialog and follow up promptly.

• Enter your email@domain.com

• Now choose the mail connection type.
• You can choose POP3 or IMAP but we recommend POP3.
• You have to check with your mailbox domain administrator for IMAP usability.

• After choosing connection type (POP3 or IMAP), you have to supply mail server address.
• Both Incoming and Outgoing mail server would be

mail.yourdomainname.com

• And also take note that username is name.domain.com which is not @ sign.

• In next dialog, you will see congratulation message to end up wizard.

• If you want to modify the setting, you can start from Step#0 to Step#1.
• And you will find the previous mail accounts that you added under mail tab.

• Select on the account you wanted to modify and click Properties button on the right panel.
• Now by visiting each tabs, you can modify the setting accordingly.
• General tab to modify or set general information about your account

• Servers tab to modify or set server setting

• Advanced tab to modify or set SSL setting, etc..

• Note that you can check to use SSL but you will be prompted each time retrieving or sending mail about the internal generated Kholix Mail Server Certificate. You will have to trust that certificate.
  • When prompting Internet Security Warning dialog, please simply click Yes button to proceed.

• Take note that once you downloaded the emails from server, it will automatically move away from server. If you want to keep important mails, create specific folder through webmail interface and move it inside that folder.
