[edit] Mailaddress Alias Strategy
If your company/enterprise have different departments with different in charge persons, the following alias map is recommanded. Alias is just virtual e-mail address which may not necessary to have actual mailbox. Alias act like virtual office or mail address in real life. But if you want to reply mail as department mailaddress e.g.. sales@domain.com to your client, you have to create mailbox for it first then use forward map (see below Forward Map section).
- Create individual sale person mail addresses. e.g..
roy@domain.com jescika@domain.com
- Add department alias address to those sale person mail addresses. e.g..
Addalias sales@domain.com -> roy@domain.com Addalias sales@domain.com -> jescika@domain.com
- Again, sales@domain.com may not necessary to have actual mailbox otherwise use Forward Map.
[edit] Mailaddress Forward Strategy
Mailaddress forward map normally intend for forward other mail system or another domain. For example, you want to forward you@yourdomain.com to you@yahoo.com. In forward map, you can set whether the forwarded mails still keep inside the respective mailbox or not.
- Create individual sale person mailaddresses. e.g..
roy@domain.com jescika@domain.com lisa.departmenthead@domain.com
- Create department mailaddress e.g..
sales@domain.com
- Add forward map for incoming mails e.g..
sales@domain.com -> roy@domain.com jescika@domain.com lisa.departmenthead@domain.com
In this scenario, lisa.departmenthead@domain.com can access to sales@domain.com and lisa.departmenthead@domain.com mailbox. If the mail have to reply as representing department, then Lisa can access to sales@domain.com mailbox and reply the client's mail.
